We’ve really been diving deep into using asana for as much of our operational tasks & trackers as sensible.
One larger gap I have in reporting right now is that inability to see time spent in section from a dashboard metric.
For some clarity, time to complete has been a great metric for us for similar reasons, but this is a tailing metric. I’d love to see a more leading metric when we have requests that sit in a section too long (e.g. a request project inbox) without any movement on that task, that points out an issue.
Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, @anon90412876! Hopefully this is something we can implement in the future
I need to do the same things:
- Trigger a notification when a Task has been in a Section too long; i.e., enforcing Section-specific process SLAs
- View Time in Section for completed Tasks
This sort of “process step execution time” is critical to properly managing business processes. Is there a way for me to measure these things in a hacky sort of way right now?
@anon90412876 @anon96419825 if an add-on is an option, the Analytics & Reports by Screenful provides detailed timing information for both completed tasks and the ones in progress.
You can learn more about the timing metrics from the Tour page or you can sign up for a free trial to give it a try.
I’m actually going to attempt this with MS Power BI. I suspect it will be a bit more work to stand-up than Screenful or Nave, but those apps are not authorized by our enterprise apps teams and getting approval isn’t easy, so MS Power BI it is!
I am having trouble building this report for tasks that are not completed “in progress” can you please explain what report settings I would need to build something similar to the screenshot you linked about, but using “avg, in progress” as the cycle time?
