Custom Field Library - Navigation & Ownership Improvements

Feature request:

  1. Add quick Custom Field Library option back to general navigation.
  2. Capability of opening a CF in a separate window, or going “back” to the CF Library (either hitting back or exiting out of a CF you are editing from the library). Remove automatic library close when editing a field from the library!
  3. Multi-select from library for editing or adding (i.e. add multiple to a project at one time); multi-select within a project for adding
  4. Multi-select for mass ownership / user change from library
  5. Additional selections for how CF fields are organized in library - alphabetized, last edited, owner / field admin, etc. - selections that can stick, for instance, if you went “back” to the library from opening / editing a field here.
  6. Magic wand moment - saved views in CF library at the user or org level

Issues:

  1. With the new navigation UI, Custom Field Library has disappeared from some accounts (depending on where they’re at with the rollout). Some show CF Library under Agents, and some with Agents enabled do not show the CF Library. Other accounts without AI enabled do not show Agents, and CF Library does not show anywhere else.
  2. Accessing the CF library, majority of the time, has to be done through Customize → Field → Library (or New → Library). You can’t click “back” or exit out of a CF and land back in the library; you have to go through all steps to access once again. CF does not have exit button, either edit, save, or cancel. CF Library closes automatically after you have closed out of the field you were accessing!
  3. Every CF has to be edited or added individually (even existing CFs), and since you can’t simply go back to the library, multiple clicks to get back to the library or create new.
  4. CFs only have field admin, not owner, which still has to be changed individually. And again, with the navigation, 4-5 clicks just to access a single field. Can’t hit back if you selected the wrong field either because you still have to start from the beginning
  5. CF organization in the library is all over the place and difficult to visually navigate / assess. Only project / creator options which don’t stick. Again, start at the beginning every time.

I want all of this. Voted.

Hi @Lisa_Husberg , great suggestions and I would also love all of these. However, forum policy suggests that you create one post per request so it is easier to track and mark as launched - it is unlikely all your 6 requests would launch together - although I wish they could!

You may find some of your requests already exist in the forum, otherwise please create separate posts in the Asana Community > Product Ideas category.
Thanks!
