Creating Work Order #'s using Formula

I am trying to create a work order numbering system that will assign new tasks a work order number. This work order number would be a simple number with the prefix WO# that will increase by 1 for every new task created and moved into a specific section of a project. I tried creating a formula that will change a field called “WO#” and add the “Increment” field which should just be 1 but I couldnt get it to work. Is there a way to make this work?

You could use a third party app like Flowsana for this.

This isn’t possible natively, but as Herve suggests you can do this with flowsana.net or, with more effort, zapier.com or make.com.
