Copy Paste a list of tasks from meeting notes (plaintext)

I have been looking for a way to do this and haven’t found one. We take meeting notes in google docs or slack, bullet points. There are always action items. We then have to manually copy them into Asana to make sure they get done by the assignees / with the due dates.

I’d like to have a human-readable, plain text way of writing action items in the meeting notes that can copy-paste into Asana, INCLUDING the due date and assignee (I know, asking for a lot here…)

Here’s an example:

  • Catherine, Due 5/31/24: Finalize design updates to CAD
  • Michael, Due 6/7/24: Finalize PCBA updates and send to vendor

If I copy BOTH of these lines (because sometimes there are a lot of lines) and paste them into my project, ideally it would find the person with the name closest to “Catherine” and “Michael” and interpret the due date into the correct column. Alternatively, just give me a plaintext format that I can use that copy pastes well. If it needs to be comma separated, or whatever, that’s fine.

Note: Not a solution but marked as such to elevate a key reply

Welcome, @Catherine_Jameson,

First, don’t forget to vote with the purple button at the top.

Until/if Asana adds such a feature, you can use the example plain text bullets very closely to what you have shown (just change name to email address and date format) and place in a file and then you can use this:

Even better, I help clients convert to a recurring team meeting workflow in Asana that handles agendas, minutes, and these actionable tasks in the most streamlined manner possible.

Thanks,

Larry
