Hello Team,
How do we automatically copy/update a custom field from projects to tasks?
We have over 100 projects, categorized using a custom field called “Project Category.” When creating a dashboard to report on tasks specific to each Project Category, the task details are missing because the Project Category value is not applied at the task level.
Hence looking for how do we update the field value from Project to Taks.
Thanks,
Shruthi
Hi @Shruthi ,
I don’t know of a way to do this with current functionality. Perhaps @Phil_Seeman knows if this can be accomplished with Flowsana.
As for adding this functionality in Asana, I assume you care more about getting all the tasks based on the project field value as opposed to actually updating every single task when the project the task lives in is updated.
A note of caution though: Should you somehow accomplish automatically updating tasks based on their parent project field value: Tasks that live in multiple projects will get their field status from the project that is last updated.
Another reason against your proposed solution is a lot of CPU-time wasted on information that is already available at the project level.
If you still would like this feature, don’t forget to vote for it.
(and perhaps rephrase it)
Flowsana currently doesn’t have any functionality regarding project-level custom fields.

Well, then how do we display Tasks information on dashboards? Like Task summary as x or y-axis.
It sounds like you want to Report on Portfolios at your Dashboard level
On the Portfolio Dashboard page, change to report on “Portfolios” and then your x axis, or your filter, or your measure/grouping, can be selected as your custom field that you want to report on:
