While I understand that large, impactful changes are important, I’ve recently noticed a series of smaller, seemingly unnecessary adjustments that concern me. These incremental changes make me worry that Asana may be slowly moving to their next lifecycle phase of decline.
Specifically, I’ve observed the following alterations, which I find both unnecessary and disruptive to my workflow:
The status field has been changed from a pill-shaped design to a square one.
The ability to select preset field widths has been removed.
Setting a tab as the default view now inexplicably moves that tab to the first row.
I’m puzzled by these changes, especially given that the previous designs were functional and well-received. I’ve always appreciated Asana’s attention to detail, which contributed to a predictable user interface and a consistent look and feel across projects.
These recent changes, however, are beginning to introduce a sense of messiness, and the platform’s once-distinctive elegance seems to be diminishing. I sincerely hope my concerns are unfounded, but I felt it was important to share this feedback.
I moved your post to the Tips and Tricks forum section - this is not at all intended to dimish your feedback, but Product Feedback is really designed for more specific requests.
This is a very new change - we think it’s likely an A/B test that may or may not persist. For those who can access the Ambassador forum section, we’re discussing it there and you can add your feedback (the feedback has been pretty uniformly negative toward this change thus far).
Thank you, Phil. It’s great to see that all of this is being discussed. Unfortunately, I feel that on their own, all of these small changes won’t grab much attention, but together, they create more cognitive dissonance, taking control away from the user and departing from the elegant UI that Asana stands for.
Hi @Alexander_Wermuth, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us! We truly appreciate your detailed feedback and understand your concerns about these changes.
Our goal is always to improve Asana in ways that enhance usability, but we recognize that even small design updates can impact your workflows. Your insights about consistency and user experience are incredibly valuable, and I’ll be sure to pass them along to our product team for consideration in future updates.
We will provide updates in the feedback threads that @Phil_Seeman shared when we have news about those features, but If there’s anything else I could help in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
