Complete button in a task - how is it meant to be used? How do I delete it if i don’t find it useful.

Anything with a complete button, in Asana, is a task and the ultimate action on it is to be completed. Although many users add tasks to Asana to keep a library of information this is not the intended use of the platform; therefore ,the “complete” button can not be removed.
If you don’t like the look of the checkmark you can convert your tasks to milestone and the icon will change to a diamond – however, a milestone is still something that can be completed.

You can also set access at the project level to Commenter which will completely remove the Complete button, unless the viewer is the Assignee of the task.
