Color option in timeline view not showing up, HELP!

I created a brand new project, with brand new tasks. I created a brand new custom field, and assigned two colors. It’s NOT showing up in my layout options under timeline view as a color option.

I only did this because some of my projects give me timeline color options with custom fields, and other projects don’t. What’s the difference?

I tried creating the custom field in list view, using existing custom fields, and also adding the field directly through the timeline option view. The latter even tells me I can’t add it because already added, yet it wont let me pick it as a color option.

I believe your issue is that you need to have a single-select custom field in order for it to appear as a color option. You appear to have none as your menu screenshot shows. Your test filed is a multi-select, not single-select, as the checkbox icon shows.
