Clicking in the timeline view to close an open task panel creates a new task

We get a lot of accidental tasks created when people are in Timeline view with a card’s details opened, then click outside of the card (on the timeline) to close the details.

It seems like the click event should first close a details panel if a task is open, then create a task on the timeline view. Having this behavior (or even an option for it) would prevent a lot of accidental empty task creation on our team.

That is indeed annoying! Waiting for a solution, you can use the Esc key to close the panel.

Hi @RJ_LaCount, thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback.

Hopefully this is a change our Product team can make in the near future! I’ll let you know here if I have any updates

The fact that the task panel closes when clicking outside, I think is the first mistake. Computer screens are large enough these days that we can afford to keep the task detail open if desired.

You’d be surprised how many clients I work with who work on small laptops… Big screen is definitely not the norm…
