I’m trying to add “estimated time” to “my tasks” view. It says it was already added, but you can clearly see in the background that it’s not there. Refreshing the page in my browser does not solve the issue. I’m using Asana Business trial.
Please click “Customize” in the upper right-hand corner of your window.
After doing so you will have the ability to toggle “Estimated Time” on & off in your view.
Thank you Christine.
There may be a workaround solution to my issue.
But this is certainly a user experience bug.
I clicked the plus button to add a new column.
It says the the column/field has already been added.
But it’s not visible. That’s a bug.
In case it wasn’t clear, when custom fields are added to My Tasks (or a project) they are always visible in the Task Detail pane. They are optionally visible, at your discretion, as columns in List view. You can’t determine the presence of a custom field by looking at List view columns as in your screenshot; you must look where Christine indicated or in the Task Detail pane. (In Projects, you look in the “Show fields” menu (which currently may be called “Hide” as part of an A/B test.)
Thanks,
Larry
That makes sense. I think the UI is missing a one-liner in each popup/lightbox bubble explaining what these mean/represent. What you explained in your message, there is no way to know that from the UI. It would be great if it were intuitive for the naive user.
That’s one approach used in interaction design with pros and cons. Asana’s approach also has pros and cons. My past career was in user experience, interaction design, and usability and I’d characterize Asana’s design (and designers) as world-class, and often innovative (even if I occasionally question a choice).
(FWIW, your suggestion for “one-liner in each popup” might not have actually solved your problem because you were looking at the list view, not the popup, I believe.)
Thanks,
Larry
