Can you standardize custom fields across multiple portfolios so that a change will reflect across all portfolio?

I’m looking to see if it is possible to standardize custom fields for multiple projects across multiple portfolios. For example lets say Project A has Custom Fields 1, 2 and 3, and exists within Portfolios X, Y, and Z. If I want to change a value in Custom Field 1 for Project A within Portfolio X, I would like for it to also change in Portfolio Y and Z.

Is this possible?

Yes! Just make sure you add the same global-to-your-org custom field in each portfolio, and when you create that custom field you check the checkbox shown below:
