Can you import data to a task not a project?

I want to combined projects. I can’t figure out how to do that. I have seen some posts here that are OLD so I assume they have fixed this oversight and there’s a way now to combined projects.

I also can’t figure out how to import task data. I know how to do it with projects but I can’t figure out how to do that with a task. Does anyone know how to?

Welcome to the forum @Julie_Lewis1!

I’d love to assist, but I am not sure what it is exactly that you mean.

What do you mean when you say “combined project”?

Can you give some more context of what you’re trying to accomplish and why?

I have data from outside Asana that I import for a billing project each month. I really want them to be one huge project that has a monthly task with all of these individual months worth of external data imported but it appears I can only import into a “project” from outside of Asana, not from outside asana into a task. If I am wrong there can you tell me how to do it please?

What I end up with is “monthly projects” instead of monthly tasks under the parent project for the year. Thanks for your response.

Hi @Julie_Lewis1 ,

Sorry about the late reply. There is no straightforward way I think, but if you give me some more context there might be a way.

It would help to know the purpose of what you are trying to accomplish. Why do you want the data in the task? What would this enable you to do?

How do you want the data to appear in the task? Like subtasks that have custom field values?
