can a prefix be added to all project names with one rule with AI Studio

Hello,

I do not have AI Studio and it does not appear that I can manually create a rule to add a prefix to all my project names. I am wondering–Can this be achieved with AI Studio (or organization may add AI studio in a few months, so maybe I should just wait - if projects can more easily be automatically renamed with AI Studio)?

Absolutely, you can achieve renaming with AI Studio, that’s even one of the basic AI Studio workflow proposed from the “add rule” page.

@Arthur_BEGOU, but what would the “When” trigger be in AI Studio to catch all existing projects? I don’t think there is one.

You might be able to do this in Asana AI Chat (or another AI chat connecting to Asana, though.

I see. that AI rule is for putting a prefix on a task, not a project.

The quick answer is that there isn’t a native way to auto-prefix or bulk rename project names with a rule right now. Even with AI Studio, rules target tasks inside a project, not the names of projects across your org. However, here are some workarounds that you can consider:

  1. Set the naming convention in your project templates so new projects are created with the prefix

  2. If you just need to “label” projects, a Portfolio with a custom field can work as a lightweight prefix alternative

  3. If you have someone comfortable with the API, a short script can batch add a prefix to existing project names

If you’re interested in exploring it, you could definitely bulk-rename projects with a Flowsana FlowAgent.
