Better Organization of "My Tasks"

Dear Asana Team,

Is it possible to customize the “My Tasks” section in my account? Specifically, I’d like to have a “My Pinned Tasks” section at the top of my “my tasks” list where I can manually sort certain tasks that I have pinned. This would be separated at the top from the rest of my tasks but still on the same page. Below that, I’d like the rest of my tasks to remain sorted by due date (with manual reordering still an option). If this kind of setup can be applied to my account, I’d greatly appreciate it!

Hi @Jim_Donio, welcome to the forum!

If you have access to custom fields, you could create a single select custom field [Pin] with a “Pin” option, along with a section “My Pinned Tasks” that you will move to the top of your My Tasks, then create a rule that says When Pin (field) is changed > Check if Pin is set to “Pin” > Move task to section My Pinned Tasks.

You may have to alter any date triggered rules to exclude anything in that new section to keep tasks from moving out.

I don’t think you’ll be able to achieve both your custom Pinned section and Due date sorting/grouping for the rest.

But you could follow @Jeremy_Long’s suggestion, which I think implies grouping by Section > Custom order, and then manually achieve your due date ordering in other sections. That will support your need to keep manual reordering an option, which I think means you can’t use either Group by due date nor Sort by due date.
