We are in the middle of our Annual Audit. Currently, the task isn’t assigned to anyone because the deliverables are subtasks that get assigned to individuals who are helping with the audit. I’d love to be able to pin the main task, like a project, to my sidebar. Or even have it as a pop-out task, like when you are creating new tasks, so it can float easily as I navigate to other projects to check on tasks and my task’s page or my inbox.
Hi @Courtney-Claire_Hayn, this is a great suggestion! Be sure to click the purple [Vote] button at the top of the page, I’ve just voted for this as well.
Best,

@Courtney-Claire_Hayn - Here’s a workaround in the meantime.
Current Workaround
- Open the search bar at the top.
- Run an advanced search by clicking the filter icon.
- Enter the name of the task you want to track.
- If you have more than one task with that name, add additional criteria to narrow in on it. e.g., project, create date, or an
ID
custom field if you have one.

- Favorite that report by clicking the star and name it.
Voila. Now you’ll have it in your sidebar. When you’re done keeping up with it, just unfavorite it.
Caveats
Advanced searches don’t show the subtasks of parent tasks the way they do in projects (i.e., with the little toggle dropdown). If you want to see detail about the subtasks you’ll need to click on the task to open up the details in the side panel.
FWIW, my approach is just to use the shortcut Shift+Tab+F (create follow-up task) then Return and then put it a preferred section in My Tasks which is always already open in a dedicated browser tab anyway.
Thanks,
Larry
