Batch-edit task names

I know this might be a rare situation, but it would be nice to be able to multi-select tasks and change all of the names at the same time.

I know Assign Copies is a good way to assign the same task to multiple people but here’s my situation:

  • I am using a task template to create sub-tasks for a set of specific people - about a dozen.
  • I am using the task template so I don’t accidentally forget someone with Assign Copies - it’s the same group every time.
  • I want the sub-task names to match the parent task name (but that’s not possible).
  • Every time I make a task using this template, I name the parent task and then copy-paste the parent task name a dozen times for all the subtasks…

Again, would be great if I could just select them all and rename them all at once, the way you can batch-edit other fields.

While this feature is not currently available in Asana, hopefully it’s something our Product team can implement in the future! I’ll keep you posted with any updates on this thread :slight_smile:

Our team would also LOVE this feature!!!

We often need to apply templates and batch change task prefixs with job# and client codes. This would save us so much time.

Specifically a find and replace option.

I was about to post a similar post, this would be a very important feature to truly leverage templates for multiple campaigns.

We share tasks across multiple projects and need to use [Campaign Name] at the beginning of each task. A find and replace option would be great. Hope to see this feature request upvoted

That would be a very needed feature for my team - i.e. the ability to edit a selection of tasks’ titles at once, after multi-selecting them.

Is there a reason why this feature is not available when it is possible to edit in bulk custom fields and assignees already?

This would be very helpful. We currently have a task that requires about 200 sub-tasks monthly to be re-named and it’s very tedious.

Echoing everyone’s thoughts here as our org would love this feature as well. It’s extremely time-consuming and tedious as our project templates are very extensive and used heavily. This would be a great feature to have :pray:

This seems like a pretty baseline function of mass-editing. Not sure what the challenges are in implementing this, but I’ve noticed the name column excluded from quite a few functions in Asana, such as filter by name. I know we can sort Alphabetically but that is seldom needed in my work as a PM/working in a date driven tool. Some of your competitors have this capability so only seems right to update in Asana :slight_smile:
