Automatically shifting set due dates

It would be a super useful ability to be able to create a rule that shifts due dates based on earlier due date moves.

For example, I have many subtasks to create a piece of video content. However, if my shoot date gets moved back (let’s say from March 12th to April 12th), the due dates I have tied to that all now must manually get pushed back.

So currently in this case, I need to go in an adjust each due date (or date range) back 1 month for my subtasks relating to anything that needs to get done after a shoot is complete (which is a lot), so it is certainly time consuming.

I’d love if there was an addition to a rule that allows for such an automation to take place on subsequent dates if one is moved forward or backward on the calendar. :spiral_calendar:

Welcome, @Chris_Bryant,

Have you considered using Dependencies which offers this behavior?

Auto-shifting dates for dependent tasks

Thanks,

I love all of the new changes to the shifting due dates feature however I wish I could deactivate the “auto-shift feature” on just one task at a time. For example if I have one particular task I want to shift without moving dependent tasks I have to click the “don’t auto-shift” feature but then that “turns it off” for the entire project. Then I have to manually reactivate the maintain or consume buffer feature at the project level. Hope this makes sense. @Vanessa_N

Hi @Jose_Mejia1, thanks so much for the feedback. I totally get what you mean. Our PMs have already taken note of this for potential future improvements, though it’s not currently on the roadmap. I’d recommend creating a dedicated topic for this request so you and others can upvote it.
