Thinking about the newly launched portfolio rules, and wondering if we could have a rule action for adding a task (from a template, maybe with some automatable data entry) into a project?
the immediate case I see would be if in my portfolio, if a project status is updated and set “at risk”, I want an action / set of actions created in the project (assigned to the project manager, or maybe who updated the status) to schedule a call with the steering committee, or maybe it’s a task to the PMO team lead to connect with the PM and discuss, etc…
The other case I see would be once a project status is updated to “Complete”, i want to push a few tasks in for administrative cleanup; yes, we could build that with a template, but the tasks might change between project start and completion; building a task template in a bundle might address it, but only if the template isn’t added early on
Another use case I have for this is certain portfolios will have standard tasks that need to be in the project, e.g. if we have a project in our PMO portfolio, but then we discover the project will need Development resources, we can add it to the Dev team’s portfolio - that portfolio then adds tasks to review resourcing, define user requirements, build an api, etc…
