Automated Time Tracking

I’d like to have the time tracking feature native to ASANA activated automatically when a task is created or moved to a specific section, and disabled when the task is marked as complete.

Hi @Shaun_Prakesh_Stanle , welcome to the forum :wave:

For what it’s worth, you can derive such information by creating a chart in Dashboard or Reporting using these settings below:

‘Time to complete’ will count the time from task creation until task completion.
‘Time in section’ will count the time the task is within a certain section.
‘Time in custom field’ will count the time that a task was marked with a specific value/option of a custom field.

This does not appear to be a trigger to start the timer though?

Actually, for my project it would be very helpfull to have a rule that would start time tracking automatically by moving it to a certain section.
@Asana_Rules, help me!

If a task was blocked, then unblocked (as the previous task causing dependency was completed), and eventually completed, is there a way to track the time from unblocked to completion? In my case tracking the time from task creation to completion is irrelevant since we trigger the creation of all tasks from a template. It would be key to be able to track the time from when the task was “ready” to be completed, to when it was actually completed
