Assigning Task as sub-task of a sub-section, it does not show in the section list

I am new to Asana. We are working to rework our approach to using Asana to better suit our needs. I have recently discovered sub-sections and they will help us eliminate one layer of sub-tasks (since sub-sub-tasks can’t be given a status we can’t track developer work on them).

After create a sub-section in a task with sub-tasks, the sub-section appears in the task’s list of sub-tasks on the left and also in the list of sub-tasks in the task’s details. I would then like to move the sub-sub-tasks up one level and arrange them under the sub-section headers. I found that when moving a sub-task (going to the sub-task’s detail page, selecting … then “convert to”, “Sub-task” I can make the sub-task a sub-task of the sub-section. Great! However, when I do that the sub-task is not listed anywhere . It is not shown under the sub-section in the list of sub-tasks on the left, or in the the task’s list of sub-tasks on its detail page.

I have worked around this by making the sub-sub-tasks sub task of the main task then moving it under the appropriate sub-section but I’m curios if it is supposed to work this way or if I’m missing something.

Thanks!

@Michael_Brock2 - welcome to the forum! I believe this is “expected” (albeit not ideal) behavior, as sub-sections function at the same level as the subtasks. I think your approach (make things subtasks of your main task, then drag them to the right subsection) is the best way forward. Subsections of tasks don’t behave the same way as sections of projects.
