I used Asana AI to pull together a project and I ended up with an “Assigned By” custom field. I know Asana tracks this data element internally. Isn’t a custom Assigned By field redundant? Was thinking of use cases: example - if a task is 3 days overdue create a comment with instructions to call the ‘Assigned By’ variable. Is that possible without a custom field?

Disclaimer - I’ve been using ChatGPT as my “Asana expert” recently since its so fast and, well, helpful. But given its occasional tendency to do a “oh, you’re right you can’t actually do that natively in Asana, here’s a workaround” I’m sort of down a rabbit hole on this one!

Musing on the utility of an assignor custom field. For small businesses, this probably is a decent addition to the library for escalations. Larger organizations this would be a bit chaotic. Departments with dept heads would probably solve most of the use cases I can think of where this would be useful.
