With the Asana AI features available, is it possible to set up a rule that automatically summarizes subtask progress every week and compile this information in the comments of a parent task?
I didn’t see an option in the When section.
Would prefer not to have a trigger button or a recurring task within the project to avoid overcomplications.
To my knowledge, that’s not currently possible with the limitations you give.
I’m wondering if task/subtask is the right resolution for the work if it requires weekly progress updates. Are you certain it shouldn’t be a project within a portfolio? This way you can easily add weekly status-updates. As of yet you can’t automate this though.
Also, don’t forget to vote for your own feedback.

Main reason why, is that each task covers multiple markets, and we use a subtask for each task for a specific market (handled by a different person).
so it’ll be great to have a summary at task level, for more details
A manual rule trigger with an AI studio rule seems the most likely workaround I can think of.

Wondering if a timer field (which @Jan-Rienk actually just taught me about yesterday) would be an option here. Set the timer to your cadence when the task is created and then every time the timer expires, have an AI Studio action summarize and comment, then reset the timer to your cadence.

Thanks everyone, the timer custom field with 2 rules can achieve the outcome i want to arrive at.
Rule 1 - when task is added to project, create timer & start the timer for 7 days, and when timer expires, restart the timer for 7 days
Rule 2 - When timer expires, summarize subtasks if there are new comments made within the last 7 days.
