Asana <> Jira Integration - Field Mapping

Hi –

I’ve connected JIRA to one of my projects. When I try to 2-way sync the fields, it’s not either:

  • Allowing me to select existing custom fields from the project
  • Rename the field to something I want (either here or from the main task grid)
  • Rename the default field via API

Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi Gianni / @GDR1989 , the native Jira integration is quite opinionated. It’s made to cover the most basic use cases but doesn’t give you a lot of flexibility. It’s also free.

If you’re willing to invest for more power and flexibility, check out Asana Jira Integration | Unito Two-Way Sync

Full disclosure: I’m one of the founders

Hi Marc - thanks for the reply.

How does Unito deal with metrics like “Time in Status” - do you have a solution for that?

While Unito won’t calculate the time spent in a status for you, it will sync the statuses perfectly (live) so both Asana and Jira will be able to report on that time spent equally. This however won’t work for the initial sync that brings in historical tasks/issues (those will start in their current status).

If you have the time spent in a status already calculated in a custom field though, Unito can also sync that across.

Hope that helps
