Asana is automatically reassigning a completed task to me

Hello,

I am having the exact same issue as this forum (Asana automatically reassigned a completed task to me) and unfortunately it was closed without a solution. Can someone help me please?

Hi Danielle. I’m sorry to hear you’re having the same issue… but also a little relieved that it’s not just me. I exchanged several emails with Asana Support, but unfortunately, we weren’t able to reach a real solution and I ended up just deleting the My Tasks rule: “Task or all subtasks completion status is changed → Move task to a certain section”. I haven’t had this issue since deleting that rule, so it seems to be something buggy there. It was a handy automation, but not important enough to deal with the randomly reassigned tasks. Maybe you’ll have better luck getting it resolved than I did! For reference if it’s helpful:

  • I went through every project we had and none of them had any rules set at all. More specifically, the rule that auto assigns tasks/subtasks to a user did not exist anywhere in our organization.

  • The tasks that were being reassigned were not originally created from a task template that had assignees.

Hi! That is helpful to know that it is still happening and it is also happening with a rule that is associated with the “Task or all subtasks completion status is changed” prompt. Hopefully, we can find a solution soon that is more helpful than just deleting the rule entirely! Thanks!

Hello,

I just found a resolution. I had a rule that was in my “My tasks” section that moved any completed task to separate section. Once I deleted that rule - it stopped auto-assigning.
