Allow Task Templates to Auto-Place Tasks in Predefined Sections

Problem:

Tasks created from task templates are added to projects without being automatically placed in specific selected sections. Instead, they appear to be placed in the same section as the previously selected task, creating unpredictable and inconsistent task placement that requires manual reorganization every time.

Proposed Solution:

Add the ability to configure task templates with a default section assignment. When creating a task template, users should be able to select a target section where tasks created from this template will automatically be placed.

Use Case:

As I’m managing projects, I want different types of task templates (todos, processes, resources) to automatically land in their corresponding sections. This would eliminate manual sorting and ensure consistent project organization.

Benefits:

  • Reduces manual task organization
  • Ensures consistent workflow placement
  • Improves project automation and efficiency
  • Maintains section-based reporting accuracy

@Cyrill, I just want to make sure you’re aware that when you add a task based on a task template, you can direct it to any section upon creation with the section’s “+” menu:

That’s a different conception than you’re asking for, but I think it’s an alternative approach that can work for some of us.

Thanks,

Larry
