My tasks used to always be color coded by whatever the “tag” on the task was, and if there was no tag it would simply be black/white. All of my team members still see their tasks boards this way. However suddenly today, all of my tasks are colored to what the “project” is colored as. It is making my tasks very hard to decipher, I would really appreciate help. Thank you.
Hi @Ryan_Johnson8 , you have been chosen as part of an A/B test where subtasks will adopt the properties of the project that their parent task belongs to (thus their colour will also be inherited).
I’ve also been chosen for this A/B test. I also find this feature undesirable, making it visually challenging to review my workload. How can we get out of this A/B test, and provide feedback that it’s an unwelcome change and if there’s a plan to proceed, at least ensure such a feature can be turned on/off?
I, too, am one of the unlucky A/B testers for this new “enhancement.” I find it obnoxious and hard to look at all my tasks now. I should be able to toggle it on and off or choose how I see my tasks. As someone in over five boards, my overall task calendar looks like a box of crayons. I am neurodivergent and find it overwhelming to the point I don’t even want to use Asana to manage my tasks anymore.
It’s also not fair their support solution was to remove the color of my project boards, as that impacts my entire team. They also can’t remove me from the beta test.
I think this is great if the user wants it. Asana should allow the user to customize their boards more than we can now. However, it should not be rolled out as the new norm and should be an option for others to select.
I’m not sure in which view you are referring to but if it’s Timeline or Gantt, look for the Options button in the top right area, in which you should see a button to set the colour to your status field (or any single-select field). This will override the Asana default which is usually the project colour.
Unfortunately, there is no way to opt-out or be notified of A/B tests, although I agree that would be nice.
The calendar view is what my designers use on a daily basis. Ive removed the project color from all of my boards to allow the yellow ‘status’ to take priority, unfortunately a lot of the tasks are multi homed so its not possible to remove the purple color from project boards that belong to other teams.
Can you provide any clarity on how Asana decides which project color should take priority?
Hi @Libby_Napier , did you try the Options button in the top right area, as I mentioned above? You can then set the colour to your Status field which needs to be a single-select type field.
I’m running into the same issue. As a PM we look at all my employees calendar views to see what they have on their plates for the day. I used to be able to see that they have promotional work due to a tag labeled “PROMO” on the parent ticket and the subtask. This would then appear in red when I looked up their calendars. However, now it shows up as the primary ticket color.
I did confirm with the employees that their calendar views still show the tasks in red but I’m wondering why it changed on my end.
Yes I see the option in a calendar for an individual project board (img 1 below) but the view attached above is my view of single employee’s calendar (img 2 below). I dont see that as an option when viewing someone else’s calendar.
I ended up going rogue and removing the project color from a bunch of other team’s boards to allow the colors I needed to take priority. We’ll see if they reach out and complain
Would be nice to have the same functionality for the calendar view of other project members.
