Or perhaps even easier to implement, would be to have that toggle as a checkbox right next to the project description field.
And you could use the project description to have the info you always need, and when you check the checkbox, it would display the project description right on the project homepage above the list of tasks.
Another vote for Asana to add a notes field into projects! I am fairly new to Asana and have already been annoyed at my need to jump between Asana and other programs for taking notes that I want to keep track of.
Also, it’s worth noting that I have experience with one of Asana’s competitors, Basecamp, and they have a very handy notes section in addition to allowing comments and file attachments (which Asana also allows, obviously). It’s just so clunky to have to upload a document, and comments are fairly bulky to use as notes, too.
Get on this, Asana! It would such a simple yet functional tool.
Asana is a great place to plan tasks for projects. But we really miss the tab with entries. Something like a notebook where you can create an unlimited number of different entries, notes. Can you do it? We will be very grateful!
For example, in one task planner, a question with notes is implemented like this. Can you do the same?
Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us, @Oksana_Meiker! We already have a thread on this topic so I’ve gone ahead and merged your post with the main thread to centralize feedback. We don’t have updates yet but we’ll make sure to post any as soon as we have them!
For what it’s worth, I’d love to have this feature as well. It is crucial for some of our projects, including simple ones (like on-boarding and including notes from an interview or when speaking with references)
In addition, having a two step process for the completion of tasks would be beneficial. At least within my organization, it appears some users erroneously complete “tasks” when the item isn’t necessarily a “task” but rather a project which is linked to several other teams through automation rules.
Hi @Justin_Poma, we have a popular thread for this feature: Adding Notes capabilities into Asana I’ve merged your feedback with the main thread to centralize feedback.
+1 to this feature request. I assumed its the most fundamental/basic feature for most PM tool but surprised to see it missing here Have used ClickUp and they have a Notes section dedicated for each project. They even have a toggle () feature like Notion which allows for hiding and opening long chunks of texts. Would love to see that here in Asana.
The recently-released Overview tab in each project with the new Project Brief feature addresses the crux of this thread:
I think it’s also a reasonable practice to use a task’s Description field rich text editing to capture notes at the task level.

I often add a resources section to projects in Asana. These resources are not necessarily tasks, but something to reference (meeting notes, presentations, external documentation, etc.). Can you please make it so that you can create a task that isn’t really a task but is a note? Having all these ‘tasks’ that are unassigned makes reporting on progress impossible and also makes it so that I can’t pull an accurate report for tasks I’ve assigned. Help make this product improvement or tell me another way to solve my issues. Thanks!
Hi @Mel_Mitchell1, thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback
We do have an existing request for this feature in the #productfeedback category already so I’ve gone ahead and merged your post with the existing one to consolidate feedback.
I’ll keep you posted and let you know of any updates as they come
Can you please add a whiteboard or general notes section where team members can just post do a shared document?
would love that
Thanks for sharing your feedback, @Lela_Panagides and @Salman_Mustafa! We already have a thread on this topic so I’ve gone ahead and merge your post with Adding Notes capabilities into Asana to consolidate feedback.
I had the same idea. Adding a new task type option called “Mark as Note” just like “Mark as Milestone” would be the best way to implement notes within a project. That way, notes are not counted as tasks, and it would help reach that 100% completed tasks on the Dashboard reporting.
Hopefully, this feature is on Asana’s product roadmap.
