Add text triggers and conditions to portfolio rules

I’m really glad with the introduction of text field triggers and conditions, and we thought to use it in a portfolio.

As we have a naming convention, the idea was to utilise the new rule to automatically categorise newly added projects for search and dashboarding purposes.

Sadly, we discovered there is no rule that does the same thing at the portfolio level, and this would now require manual work.

I’d hope this functionality can be made available at the project level, logically looking at Project name or portfolio name and Text fields both as trigger for when these are changed, and with conditions to check the content.

Added my vote. I’d like to see text field triggers added to portfolio rule options as well. My use cases involve things like:

  • Remove project if name contains a particular char
  • Add to another portfolio if name contains a particular char → Then remove from this portfolio
    • In this sense the portfolio running the rules acts like a “route control” portfolio.

Current Workaround
Using the API.
