Context
A lot of our project templates are used by multiple teams. This means that the template we use often isn’t in the same team where we want the project to be.
A mistake me and my colleagues have made many times is the following:
- Find the team where you want the project to live
- Click [New project] > [Use a template]
- Find template
- Create project
- Discover that the project is created in the template team, instead of the team where [New project] was selected.
I find this unintuitive. When I go to a team and specifically select [New project] at that team, I don’t expect I would need to select that specific team again.
I go to a team to create a project, I expect the project is created at that team.
The recent launch of team sharing for projects and the need to move it both in Project details and sharing settings is adding to the confusion/hassle. See Improve the moving of projects
Desired outcome
When creating a project at a specific team, always have that team selected at the project creation page rather than te team where the template lives.
