The way that Google Docs allows us to comment, tag, and task each other is invaluable. We can comment on a specific selection (word, phrase, paragraph, etc.) and tag someone so that they are pinged and directed to that exact section. Right now I can only share Asana notes by sharing the whole doc. There is no way that I see to create a bookmark or to comment within the notes.
When I use the @ feature within notes to tag a person, that person is not pinged in their Asana inbox. I need to be able to ping people to address a particular part of the notes. I need to be able to assign tasks that reference a particular part of the note.
Right now this is so important that we’re still using google docs outside of Asana rather than notes, though I would much rather use notes. The other work-around that I have been using (which is way too clunky) is to message someone in Asana on the project, linking the notes (also on the same project) or, worse, copying a section of the notes into the message so that folks know exactly what part of the notes I’d like them to address in their response. I can completely understand why others on my team want to just keep using Google docs instead of Asana notes, and then link the Google docs in the project overview.
Being able to comment (in the way we can on Google docs) is a crucial part of the user experience of the google doc & the reason they win over “notes” in Asana.
