I need canceled status since not every project is completed; some can be canceled along the way. Showing it as completed or on hold, on risk affects my data accuracy. According to this the amount of graphs I will produce will not be accurate. We can measure our project success rate as a company by reporting our canceled projects separately.

It would be really helpful to have additional project status options available. To maintain consistency, these could be managed by Asana Admin users to prevent the list from becoming unmanageable.
We’ve come across several use cases where this would add value. Such as when a project has been canceled or when there are outstanding questions that need to be flagged for the broader team. Having more nuanced status options would also make it easier to pull relevant updates for our weekly status calls. In addition, it’d be nice to have the ability to pull reports of projects completed vs canceled, as we are allocating resources towards projects that have been canceled.

Please can we have these two options added to the project status options. “Not started” in the in use list and “Cancelled” in the completed list. These are two options that are potentially current and relevant for EVERY SUBSCRIBER COMPANY and EVERY PROJECT.
We all know that the aim of our projects is to have succees in all of them, but we are at the whim of our clients, and having to troll through all of the projects that do not fit into any of the offered options is the waste of a huge time reasource that Asana is supposed to be assisting us with.
A job is not Complete if it is Cancelled. A job is not On track, At risk, Off track, or On hold if it has not been started.
Having these two options allows better use of our time and resources, and will enable the reporting functions to better show us how we are tracking.
Please give us (your customers/clients) what we require to use your product better and more effectively. Thank you.

I’d add that “Cancelled” is available, it’s just named “Dropped”.
I’m renaming this topic to address the remaining option of “Not stared”.
Original name: “Add a ‘Not started’ and/or ‘Canceled’ project status”
As a workable convention/workaround I’d suggest to utilise “On hold” for this purpose, as it does reflect the “no work is currently being done on this project” as would “not started”.

I would still like to see Cancelled added to the list. Dropped does not mean the same thing as cancelled. Dropped would be where we have cancelled the project, whereas cancelled would be where the client has cancelled the project.

Thank you for your nuance, that is helpful for both us as moderators and Asana.
Our challenge here is to keep feedback focused on one thing, so that it is clear what exactly is marked considered, in-development, or launched when Asana marks feedback as such.
There is no perfect solution, as the topic is old and has multiple ideas.
The majority of feedback on this topic seems to be towards adding the “cancelled” option, though to me it reads more like a call for an option to mark a project both as “closed” yet not “completed” rather than a nuance between “client decided to stop” and “we’ve decided to stop”.
I’m open to ideas, and I’m flagging @pforumleader @ambforumleader @Forum-team to get their input on how to best moderate this topic.
I’d add that it’s also worth looking at this related topic, as that would also solve your (and any other) nuance.

I’d defer to @Forum-team, but perhaps since the OP is clearly about a Canceled status, re-title this topic “Add a ‘Canceled’ project status” and add a post pointing to other related English Forum > Product Feedback requests like Customization of Update Status options / Icons and suggest followers vote for those or add other requests in new topics.

Curious as to whether ‘Not Started’ is being considered as an extra native option for project statuses.
Larry’s point about ‘Cancelled’ seems reasonable but ‘Not Started’ would be great!
