Ability to skip recurring task instead of Complete

Same! This feature would be amazing! Would really love to be able to do this.

Why is Team Asana not adding a skip task button for the recurring task? Everyone needed it.

If the Team Asana does not add the skip recurring task feature soon, then if any of the competitors come up with the same, then most people will switch from asana to a new app for this.

Just for this feature? I doubt it

Yes please add a Not Complete option for tasks! Adding skip is helpful but I need to see if someone didnā€™t complete a task.

Would be great to have this not complete functionā€¦ but then also to be able to build into the workflow if by the end of the week it is due it haunt been completed it can be automatically set as ā€œnot completeā€ and then the recurring task generates the one for next weekā€¦ this would help manage those tasks when people are on holidayā€¦ potentially.

I second this idea! :100:

I have a ā€œFamily Responsibilitiesā€ project with my spouse and older kids to keep track of daily/weekly/monthly chores. If someone didnā€™t do the dishes yesterday, thatā€™s just more dishes for todayā€™s task, but it doesnā€™t become two tasks. It would be more useful for me to see how often chores are actually getting completed.

Perhaps there could be an optional check box when creating the task. This way, the default can continue to show as overdue, but if you select ā€œClose as Not Completed after Due Dateā€, it will automatically count the task as Not Completed.

I still also like the idea of a ā€œSkipā€ option to proactively skip a task before itā€™s due, especially if that also counts the task as Not Completed.

Bump this idea.

Has there been any update here? Apart from the unpopular workarounds suggested?

Iā€™d be happy with just a Skipped, if Not Complete (and the accompanying reporting underneath this) is too difficult. I just find frustratingly difficult to actually click ā€˜Completeā€™ when I know IT WASNā€™T COMPLETED, and Iā€™m just clicking this to create the next, recurred task. Sorry, I find the psychology behind clicking Complete when not complete very jarring.

PS:

The workaround suggested of moving Tasks forward is much more time consuming and requires much more steps to complete, as opposed to just clicking a single button & having the recurrence fire again.

Think: Moving 15 Tasks via shifting each in the Calendar vs 15 Clicks to just ā€˜skipā€™ or ā€˜Not completedā€™

I completely agree about needing ā€œSkipā€ or something like it. This isnā€™t so much a nice to have, but there are various scenarios that our implementation really needs the ability to be able to mark our tasks as something different than completed vs. not completed.

Agree that the option to Skip is absolutely necessary. Please add this option to recurring tasks.

Note: Not a solution but marked as such to elevate a key reply

Hi all,

As a workaround to this, if you are on the legacy Business, Advanced or Enterprise tiers, you can right click on your recurring task to mark it as an approval. Then, you could complete it as Rejected if the recurrence was not actually completed (or Approved if it was completed).
