Ability to set a date/timeframe filter in dashboards regardless of task completion/creation status

Currently, Asana dashboards allow filtering based on creation/completion date, but not the date of modification for subtasks/custom fields. What I’d like to be able to do is create a widget where I’ve an overview of projects/total of hours in a custom time-tracking field based on a custom categorisation for the last X number of months or from a specific calendar date (i.e., custom/standard field/task modification date within a particular project/portfolio) regardless of whether a task is completed or not. The widget would then summarise number of hours for example modified within the last 6 months or a number of tasks within the last 6 months etc..

Hi @Maria_Schuchinsky

This sounds like a strong feature request. In the meantime, a couple of possible workarounds with current functionality:

Advanced Search: Search within your project or portfolio for tasks modified in the last X months, include subtasks, and filter by your time-tracking field. You can save the search for reuse and export the results to sum hours or analyze task counts as needed.

Helper field + Rules: Add a custom field like Updated Month and create a rule that triggers when your time-tracking field changes, updating that field to the current month bucket. You could then build a dashboard widget filtered by that field and use Sum on your hours field. It takes a little setup, but it can help mimic a modified timeframe view.

It doesn’t fully replace true “last modified date” reporting, but it could get pretty close with current functionality. You can also share broader feedback in Product Feedback: https://forum.asana.com/c/forum-en/product-feedback/20
