Ability to Remove the "AI Summary" box from the Project Overview tab

This morning when I fired up my Asana I noticed that the AI Summary box had been moved from the right side column (under the status update) over to the top of the Overview tab. Is there a way to remove this from the top of the Overview tab and/or move it back to the right side column? We use the Overview tab for cross-linking projects to internal resources via hyperlinks so it really, really screws up our workflow.

This change is a real bummer, as our teams have recently gotten used to using that AI Summary tool but having it in this new spot makes accessing our project resources way less convenient & turns that had become to be seen as a real asset into an annoyance.

In general, there is no way to change the interface. When Asana makes a design decision, it’s either an ongoing test that can be rolled back or it’s a definitive solution that’s being deployed.

That being said, the forum is the right place to ā€œcomplainā€ about this so that if you have enough eyeballs on your issue, maybe Asana can roll it back. I just moved your post to the product feedback category.

Thanks, @Bastien_Siebman ! That’s super helpful!

A shame that we can’t switch off/shift interface stuff like that when it becomes disruptive, though. Maybe ask us first?

Some community members and myself wrote a post I believe worth reading šŸ¦„ If Wishes Were Unicorns: Why Asana Might Not Have Implemented that Feature Request (and other thoughts about Asana feature development and product strategy)

Long story short: any ā€œtoggleā€ or ā€œoptionā€ is adding complexity to the product. Which costs for a lot of reasons.

They kinda do by running experiments, reading the forum, offering ā€œFeedbackā€ buttons in the app… But at the same time, my own opinion is that you can’t simply always do what people ask, mostly because no one agrees on what should be done.

I have the exact same feeback! The placement of the AI box above overview is really distracting.

This box is GIANT and totally interrupts work flow in Asana. Please remove it or put it in a side column. This is annoying and degrades my experience using Asana. It makes getting to key elements like the project brief and regularly accessed links/docs a long scrolling experience.

Yay! I found a work around - build new template without the overview page. Put that content in a notes view instead. No more forced AI.

If it does force the ā€œoverviewā€ right click and delete prior to using. Yes, it bothers me this much that I had to invest time in working out how to remove it from my work!

I just ran into this this morning, and to have to disable Asana AI to get rid of it is very much not optimal. This takes up a lot of space, and it’s not something we want to see every time we go to the overview page, which we use to attach essential related work, team info, etc.

We may have to go to the solution of using the Notes tab vs the Overview tab, but doesn’t give the same functionality. I would like to be able to make this AI Summary go away and have it only when I ask for it. My boss is not pleased. And neither will our clients be.

That’s a nice hack! Unfortunately, if we do that we lose the Status Update box. It absolutely stinks that we can’t seem to have both.

I didn’t even think of disabling the AI tool. That would certainly work, but our team has come to rely on that. Really, really stinks that we have to turn that off just to keep our resources where we want them.

We use AI every day, so turning that off is definitely not an option for us. I am going to ignore the AI summary box and am confident Asana will get it sorted out. Some people will love it. I just want the option to disable or hide it if I don’t want it. I do use AI for summaries, and to help me draft higher-level status updates, and I love that.

Very True, these elements should be movable so we can set up our overview structure in a way that best works for us. It feels like the AI tool is in our face. We love Asana and the ā€œoptionsā€ but this is a non-option. Please let us move these elements, Asana.

Agreed! The placement isn’t ideal, the UI is way too big, and a lot of us don’t care for AI overviews anyway. To toggle it on/off, move it down, or make the UI smaller would be ideal.

This feature basically ruins the Overview tab. Half of my Overview tab is just noise.

Please add a ā€˜remove’ button (not sure why this didn’t come with the feature itself) or at the very least a warning message before clicking it, such as, ā€˜This is a non-reversible action, and will permanently clutter your Overview tab’.

thank you
ps. I love Asana but this feature from a DEV p.o.v is unacceptable.

Option A: the elements in the overview page can be customized/reordered
Option B: The AI summary section can be permanently closed/hidden
Option C: The AI summary section can be collapsed
This ā€œfeatureā€ takes up so much space even on my workstation screen

I absolutely HATE this giant AI box. It’s ridiculous. Nobody wants it or needs it.

Asana wants it. Presuming that they just want more people to use it.

Same feedback from me. I want the Project Description box to be at the top of that tab, because we use it for important Project information and links.

It would be nice if the AI Summary was its own tab, which we could move or hide.

UPDATE: I was doing a demo for a new hire to show them how obnoxious the AI Summary box is now that its been added to the Overview tab (and why we’re no longer using it), and I generated a summary. I’ve now discovered that once a summary has ben generated there doesn’t seem to be a way of deleting it. So now the box is even larger and more in my way than before. Ugh!
