We are new Asana users, and our users are asking for the ability to create file folders within project views. We work with dozens and dozens of files on a single project, which means the Files tab can have up to 60 files on a single page. This makes it difficult for users to easily know which file to grab and work on. The file title is truncated after so many characters and they can’t hover over the file name and see full title, upload dates, etc.
Welcome to the forum @Laura_Cooper1 !
I’d argue against this, as it would motivate adding files to Asana. I don’t think Asana is suitable for storing files. In my opinion files should be stored in a tool suitable for this like Google Drive or SharePoint, with links pointing to these files/folders in Asana. Then these tools can be used to both manage access and revisions, and ensure people are always looking at the latest version.

Please, please, please
- can you add a feature with the ability to create folders in the “files” tab of a project. A little bit of folder and file management would go a long way for our design and marketing team. Version control becomes really difficult to organize.
Right now, Files is basically read and view only.

As a creative project manager, my design teams have the same issue. And in the “files” tab it’s view only and able to download. The truncated file names is really annoying too.
Thank you
