Ability to create custom rule based on overdue tasks

Hello all, I’m attempting to create a custom rule that filters tasks to a specific section in the project if the due date has passed, but it doesn’t appear that is an option. Has anyone found a workaround on this?

Welcome to the Forum @Julia1 and thank you for reaching out!

You are correct here. This is currently not available in Asana but I believe it would be a great rule to implement. If it’s OK with you I’m moving this thread to the #productfeedback category to allow other users to support this idea. Please don’t forget to cast your vote by clicking on the Vote button next to the title.

What I can think as a workaround for this is to manually move these tasks in bulk to the desire section using the Advanced Search Tool. I have attached a screenshot of the steps to follow to achieve this:

*It can be 1, 2, 3, or the desire days depending on how often you want to verify this.

Once you have the results, you can multi-select the tasks and move them in bulk to the desire section. You can also save this search as Report if you intend to use it regularly. Please, learn more about it here.

I hope this helps Julia but please let me know if you have any follow-up question!

I would also really love to have this feature! Would love to set one of my custom statuses if task is incomplete (I created a column for “LATE PAYMENT” and would like the task to automatically change to that if the due date becomes past due).

Thanks!

How is this not available even for Business users? How is anyone tracking items that are not completed/overdue?

FYI this capability is available in my Flowsana integration - it allows you to trigger rules based on a wide range of date-based conditions.

Hi folks :wave:t2:

Closing off this thread as there is now a “Task is overdue” trigger for Custom Rules :tada:
