Is there a way I can have a portfolio field update for a project when a task is completed. I would like the date of task completion to update the project/portfolio field with the date. This will allow milestone dates visibility at the portfolio level without having to mouse over the mikestones and get onto our looker studio dashboard.

This is currently not possible, automations are at the task level only. You would have to use a 3rd party solution.
I suspected that would be the case. If using Zapier, would it need to be a custom API using the custom field settings objects, or is there an easier 3rd party integration I could use?

A mapping between a custom field and a project or portfolio is handled with a custom field settings object. This object contains a reference for each of the custom fields and the project or portfolio, as well as additional information about the status of that particular custom field (e.g., is_important, which defines whether or not the custom field will appear in the list/grid on the Asana application).”
It would probably be a custom API call indeed because I don’t believe Zapier has the action to update a project field. Let me know if you need help
How would I go about doing something like this? Right now I use Zappier to create projects but when that happens I would like to (either at project creation or after project creation) update a custom field at a project level.
Also what this person asked where if a task or milestone is complete and then we update a custom field at the project level - this would help me out a lot too! Thanks so much!
