Update when due date is changed on Project

I want a notification whenever the due date for a project has been changed.
I also want to be able to track whenever this happens, over time.

I tried setting up a rule that triggers when the date is changed and the due date is not empty, but I do not see any appropriate “Do this” that would allow me to know if the date was changed and how to track changes overtime.

@Jaime_Martin,

To help me understand…

Are you using portfolio rules? Or is your project represented by a task in an Asana project?

Thanks,

Larry

I would prefer to use Portfolio rules as each department is represented by a Portfolio and their projects throughout the year are added to their specific portfolio.
So I would want to get a notification (or something like a task being created somewhere, or comment, etc) whenever a due date for a project is changed.
And it would apply to all projects added to the portfolio over time.

Thanks, @Jaime_Martin.

You could set up a portfolio rule like this:

I showed three potential actions you could take, and the menu of other ones. You’ll have to decide which one(s) might work for you for your notification; none do exactly what you want, though; maybe one day.

Another option:

If you were to keep the project start/due date in a task in the project, then you could use this solution:

Hope that helps,

Larry

I must admit that I do not understand the workflow for the three potential actions I could take

Re the tracking in a project task, is it possible to automatically add a task to every project added to a portfolio?

I was just describing the middle column “Do this” where I’m specifying three actions to occur if the rule is fired.

You could do that using custom code and might be able to do that with a connector app like zapier.com or make.com or another third-party app.

Thank you! I will test them out
