Tracking Time to Market for Creative Tasks

I have set up these sections in Asana for our tasks: New Request, Planned, In Progress, Feedback (Waiting For), Changes Requested, and Completed.

I want to measure the time in days that tasks spend in “In Progress” and “Changes Requested”, without requiring the team to manually fill out timesheets.

I’m thinking of creating a custom field called “Creative Execution Time” that could automatically calculate the total duration a task spends in these two sections. Does anyone have suggestions or experience with setting this up in Asana so it updates automatically?

Thanks for the input, Larry! I definitely overcomplicated this in my head. I ended up with a similar setup that lets me calculate the average days in the section. Now I can filter by brand or creative type, or even look into team performance by isolating one person and benchmarking them against others in similar roles.
