I have found that AI Studio rules seem to get confused by tasks that have recurring due dates. For example, I have a rule that looks for tasks assigned on weekends and if it is assigned on Saturday or Sunday, the rule should change the due date to the following Monday. However, it does not work if the due date is set by a recurring task.
I have a task that is set to recur on the 13th of every month. For December 2025, the 13th is a Saturday. However the rule “sees” it as the 12th and does not change the date.
I have rules in other projects where the AI determines which week of the month a task falls into and sorts into the correct section. It always is wrong with recurring tasks and will usually sort them into an Overdue section, even if the Due Date shows a date well into the future.
Has anyone had success with working with AI Rules related to recurring tasks?
I have added my vote! It is such an odd quirk that it is unable to read the Due Date accurately. In my screenshots above, the task is due on December 13 but the logic is that it is due on December 12 – which is just incorrect.
For most of our core projects, I have removed the recurring dates in favor of creating a new task every time. But some of my colleagues like recurring tasks and are frustrated that the rules don’t work as expected (I’m our Admin and the Answer Lady so I get all of the questions/frustrations).
