The ability to hide Custom Fields applied to a task that don't belong to the project in which the task is being viewed

Hello everyone! I’m a Group PM Lead here at Asana. We have in fact prioritized this work for our current half that just started. Given there are a number of topics discussed in this thread, let me clarify scope:

  • Displaying all fields in the task pane: Today we limit the number of custom fields displayed on the task pane to 60 (even though the product limit for a project is 100, and a task can be multi-homed in multiple projects). We will be removing this limit and will display all custom fields for a task, grouped by project to help with legibility.
  • Hiding or expanding/collapsing project fields: Building on the previous bullet, you will be able to hide/collapse/expand fields that aren’t relevant to the current project you’re in (most relevant to this thread).

There is related work currently in implementation that will unlock this feature so we don’t yet have a precise date for being generally available, but expect it to be within the next 2 quarters.

Note: This is currently in design so the final scope is subject to change!
