another vote here!
Hi! Asana Admin- please combine these 2 threads for voting!!
+1 vote. Saving Status Update template for Projects and Goals would be extremely helpful!
+1 vote. we want ot have rigor on our teamās status updates, having the ability to save a tempalte that all ahve to follow (watermark or section template) would help us get there for sure!
any update on this? this is more than 2 years old and still a significant pain point for us using status updates across a dozen team members creating multiple projects each and reporting weekly. Easily leads to inconsistent formatting (more so user taking the easy routeā¦) and negatively impacting broader ETL into PowerBI for more in-depth reporting (cannot consistently apply filters or formulas to extract).
Even just allowing update building within a project template would be HUGE, because we do all use a small selection of templates for new projects.
+1 on saving Asana Status Update templates!
Because based on whether a project is āon trackā / āat riskā / āblockedā we also want to have different āstandard fieldsā filled out as part of the Status Update.
I would like my teamās project status updates all to be formatted the same way(pic attached). Is there a way to include this as part of a project template or a bundle so that it is automatically included when I hand over the project to one of my program managers? In current state, I am asking them to copy and paste it over and this is leading to a lot of disparity and formatting inconsistencies that I have to change when I pass the updates to our external teams.
@Jeffrey_Marler - unfortunately this is not currently available (Iām sure you know this, but after posting one status update on a project, subsequent updates will default to that ātemplateā). Iāve moved your post to a feedback request thread on the subject; please consider giving it a vote!
Another vote⦠how many votes are required till action is taken out of curiosity? as this seems to have been going on a while?

Is this available yet?
Is there an update to this?
We have 200+ projects in our largest portfolio and actively manage 50+ projects at any given time. It is a PAIN in the current format to make sure the correct formatting is used so that all status updates follow the same format and address the right criteria.
We need to be able to set templates
Ideally, I would like to be able to link which status update template is the default to which project template. Also would be good to be able to change which template is selected for specific updates like project completion.
Is this ever going to be on the roadmap? This is something that should be able to fit into the current project template design and thousands of people have been asking for this for years.
Also interested in this to help streamline status updates across our full team with weekly statuses and monthly reviews which have different requirements.
Bumping this⦠this would be extremely helpful for my organization as well and looks like it has been a request for several years now by lots of folks.
I would like to ask what is the process to start a new feature that is asked by the community (users/customers). This is a feature that some PMOs would love to have.
In my personal experience, simplifying the processes for the users helps me standardizing the outcomes.
100+ projects 40+ goals 16+ project owners are easier to manage when simplifying.
I hope we can have an answer to our petition soon.
1000% agree, this is one that is extremely frustrating it hasnāt been done in the 5+ years people have been asking for it specifically. AI updates are cool, but standardization is cooler.
Spoken like a true PMO
I am 100% with you! Status templates linked to project templates, portfolios, and/or triggered by rules (if status is x use x template, if custom field changes to b use b template, etc).
Upvote, this would be extremely helpful for my organization.
Does the project remember the new personalized format or does it just āstickā for the person who made the change to the format initially?
What are people doing who have a org wide status update format they want to use?
@Rebecca_McGrath
Iām pretty sure that if you are the first person to make a status update, your sections will become the default for all who follow.
But otherwise, while it will apply to your subsequent status updates, it will not apply to othersā***.
*** Iām not sure, and didnāt bother to test right now, but Iām pretty sure it will not apply to anyone else who previously did a status update. Iām just not sure what those who write their first status update get.
Thanks,
Larry
