Task Template - Subtask Due Date relative to Parent Task Due Date

Is there a workaround in task templates to set subtask due dates relative to the parent task’s due date rather than the task’s creation? If it’s days after task creation, we’re relying on users to create a task exactly on schedule, leaving no room for either late submissions or planning ahead. If we’re able to base subtask due dates on the parent task due date, that would allow for users to submit tasks far in advance without triggering immediate work.

For example, if a client is requesting a billboard, they would open the billboard task through the task template, which would then assign the following subtasks:

  • Write copy
  • Review copy
  • Design assets
  • Review assets
  • Traffic to media partner

If the billboard is meant to run 4 months from now, we don’t need to start the work until about 2 months out, but if the subtasks are based off of task creation instead of parent task due date, it will trigger immediate work. This means that someone would have to manually change all the due dates, which defeats the purpose of having due dates automatically assigned in the first place, or (b) wait until exactly 2 months out to submit the request, which relies on people remembering the exact date to submit and removes their ability to plan ahead (i.e. submit all requests from a marketing plan at once).
