Our team currently relies heavily on comment-only (i.e., task collaborators are commenters on the project) projects. We often want to assign someone a task that contains subtasks and let them manage the task and everything under it. Currently, they are only able to edit the top-level task. This means they can’t change any attributes of the subtasks (e.g., assigning them out, altering due date) or add new subtasks to their own task.
I really think that owning a task in a comment-only project should give you full edit access to everything underneath it, including the ability to create new subtasks, delete existing subtasks, or change data on them.
