When adding the Asana-created Client record reference custom field to projects across the product it returns “No matches found” when attempting to associate a Task with a specific Client portfolio.
However, if we were to add our own reference custom field with the source set to “Portfolios” the associated Client values appear in the dropdown (amongst others).
I understand that the Project itself is associated with the Client custom portfolio. But tasks may live in multiple projects, including those not within any Client portfolio. As such, being able to display the “Client record” on the card in the BoardView or in a column in the SpreadsheetGrid view are useful for context.
Historically we use a reference custom field with the source set to portfolio to do this and it was our hope that the rollout of the asana-client-management product would make this easier as it could enforce some “valid options” logic in virtue of the nature of the newer Client custom portfolio type.
