Suggestions to improve Inbox experience

A lot of feedback I have heard from our users is that it is really difficult to keep up with the inbox notifications, and as a result it seems like a lot gets missed. I feel like the Inbox needs a complete overhaul, to be honest. It seems odd that there are so many options to customize your My Tasks view but users are limited to a disorganized feed with minimal options to customize the inbox. Below are a few suggestions for ways to improve the inbox that would make things a lot easier:

  1. Ability to select multiple notifications, instead of having to archive one by one.
  2. Allow users more options to personalize notification settings.
    1. For example, I get a lot of notifications when a custom field is changed at the portfolio level. I believe this can be turned off in the field settings (for certain field types), but some people need this information so we don’t want to turn it off for everyone. Users should be able to turn these notifications off if not relevant to them.
    2. In the project notification settings it says “Individual project settings will override default settings”. I feel this should be the other way around so that users don’t have to continuously update the individual project settings if they don’t match.
  3. More options to group or filter notifications.
    1. by project - view all updates related to a specific project
    2. by notification type - for example, view all status updates or all due date changes at one time
    3. by project custom field - our projects manage multiple customers, so it would be more organized to filter to project updates pertaining to a single one which is designated by a custom field at the portfolio level

@leferg,

If you search in English Forum > Product Feedback you’ll find requests already entered and voted on that correspond to some of your points. For those you find, please click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the Vote button; that’s the quickest and most effective way to express your support for a request.

For any remaining points, please, one-by-one, create a new English Forum > Product Feedback topic (as you did here), but for just one single request per topic, then again add your vote.

The policy of the forum is to have individual requests so they can be voted on and discussed individually.

I’ve moved this topic to another category in advance of that.

Thanks,

Larry
