Show projects of nested portfolios in Parent Portfolio timeline.

I can’t find a clear answer anywhere on the forum and it seems like all the comments dance around this specific item so I’m creating a new product feedback thread specific to what I’m looking for.

When looking at Portfolio Timeline view, there could be nested portfolios. I want to be able to expand the nested portfolio to show the projects within that portfolio on the same timeline.

Here is an example. Portfolio A has Portfolio B. Portfolio B has Project B1 and Project B2. When I am looking at the timeline of Portfolio A, I should be able to expand Portfolio B and see Project B1 and Project B2 on that same timeline, without the extra clicks of opening up Portfolio B’s timeline.

Screenshots for reference:

Portfolio A Timeline:

As you can see above, I can’t “see” Projects B1 and B2 on the Portfolio A Timeline.

(side note and separate, yet adjacent, product feature to consider: Portfolio Due dates should automatically rollup from all projects within. Alternatively, have a toggle to automatically rollup the dates from all projects within the portfolio. I had to manually set the Start and End dates for Portfolio B in order for it to appear on the timeline, even though the Projects B1 and B2 had their respective dates set)

Real life use case:

We develop self-paced CBT courses and put those courses into learning paths. For tracking, we track the progress of the entire learning path’s development. The idea here is that the Learning Path would be “Portfolio B” and the courses in that Learning Path would be “Project B1”, “Project B2”, etc. Then, the relative stakeholder departments would have access to Portfolio A so they can see all of the learning paths in development and all the respective courses for those learning paths.
