Feature Request: Scheduled Weekly Reminder Emails for Upcoming Tasks
Summary:
Add the ability to schedule automatic email notifications on a specific day of the week (e.g., every Friday) to remind team members about tasks due in the upcoming period (e.g., the following week).
Use Case:
As an ad agency CEO managing multiple clients, I want to ensure my clients receive proactive reminders about their upcoming review and approval tasks. (Likewise, this same workflow coudl be used for internal team member reminders.) A Friday email summarizing tasks due the following week would help everyone plan their workweek more effectively and reduce last-minute surprises.
Current Limitations:
-
Asana currently sends weekly overdue task summaries, but these only cover tasks that are already late
-
“Due date is approaching” rules can trigger notifications, but they fire based on the task’s due date, not on a specific day of the week
-
There’s no way to batch upcoming task reminders into a single weekly digest
Desired Functionality:
-
Allow users to schedule recurring email digests (e.g., every Friday at 9 AM)
-
Include tasks due within a specified timeframe (e.g., next 7 days)
-
Option to configure at the project, portfolio, or individual user level
-
Customizable email content and timing
Business Impact:
This would improve team planning, reduce missed deadlines, and create a consistent rhythm for workload management across the organization.
