Rules to trigger due dates only in business days

+1 for me too

I tried this but it’s working on my end. I’ll have to double check again to see if I set it correctly. Other than that: PLEASE add the “skip weekend” function ! the majority of the world works Monday-Friday. use the majority I say. I have also voted above . Crossing fingers :crossed_fingers:

This is sorely needed. Why hasn’t this feature been added? This has been an ask of Asana users since 2019. :astonished:

The whole business day is quite hard because it depends on countries, cultures, companies…

Agreed, this gets really challenging if you are in an org that has offices in different locations (even within the US, for example, some offices within the same company observe state holidays that others don’t…). The UK observes Boxing Day, the US doesn’t, etc.

If I’m setting up a project timeline and haven’t assigned tasks yet, how will Asana know which business calendar to observe. If it gets assigned to someone, should it check their calendar and adjust automatically? All valid questions that complicate this.

It should be an OPTION to exclude weekends! People have been asking for this for 2 years. Come on Asana!

Other platforms have custom calendar controls that allow you to set working days and input holidays that can apply on a personal, project, or team level. That makes it very customizable. Additionally you could set that a project calendar overrides a team one, and a personal calendar overrides a project calendar if needed.

Asana could also add these as options for bundles, making it even more easy to customize.

Almost every other major platform has a feature like this. So I doubt it’s that they can’t do it, they just have not prioritized adding this feature for whatever reason.

+1 Nearly 5 years and no movement on this, seems like this should have been an option long ago.

This request is from 2019… any update?

No update yet, otherwise it would be here

Would be lovely if Asana would implement this. It really defeats the efficiency of automation when my teammates have to reassign due dates on tasks because they fall on weekends.

Hi team,

asking also to get this feature rolled out as this is very difficult as tasks due dates should be pushed to fall on a business day instead of weekend automatically.

Thank you for prioritizing this feature!

Another upvote for this request - please and thank you. It might be the one thing I miss about Monday.com.

This simple feature is preventing my team to use ASANA entirely and we plan on moving to other tools just because of this

For using Asana as CRM tool, we automatically set a due date to 1 day after the lead was added to Asana per form. Right now, this also includes weekends.
It would be great to have the possibility to add to the rule “on working days” instead of the standard “calendar day” right now.

Hello @Maxx welcome to the Asana Community Forum

I have found an existing feedback request thread that I recommend upvoting: Rules to trigger due dates only in business days

@Maxx @Andrea_Mayer I’ve gone ahead and merged the topics. Any votes to Max’s topic should be transferred. And the good news: Asana is considering this.

Would also like to see this functionality applied to custom date fields. i.e. Having the ability to create a custom date field to exclude weekends.

Hi @Christine_Kievit,

Just FYI this capability is available in our Flowsana integration’s rule actions, for setting the task’s due date or a custom date field. For example (note the “Skip weekends” checkbox):

@Phil_Seeman Thanks! This should really be a feature directly built into Asana though since the project themselves have Weekend Awareness available, but only for dependencies. Seems silly that there wouldn’t also be the capability to do it in date fields within the projects.
