Yep. I think that’s why other tools, like ClickUp, enable you to define workdays at the organization level and, given how flexible teams are these days, also allows you define workdays (as well as hours and even times of availability) for teams and individuals as well on a case by case basis.
+1 – This would be incredibly helpful for managing all my task-assignment workflows!
More automation the better! +1
Not only business days, but a way to remove holidays, PTO, or days your are OOO for some reason. Similar to SmartSheet’s date interaction.
This has been reported for quite a while!
Any update on this? I think this feature is kinda necessary.
@Zifeng_Liang not that we know of.
Any update on this?
The question was already asked 2 days ago to be honest, it could be weeks or even months before we see something being done for this specific topic (given that Asana does not share its roadmap).
I think this kind of questions have been in this forum since 2018. I wonder what keeps the team so long.
Chiming in here hoping that this is something still on the Asana Dev team’s radar. Thanks all!
Ditto to above. And don’t understand what’s taking so long. I’ve been seeing requests for this since 2017… that’s SIX years. How is it possible that the Asana Product Team hasn’t prioritized this?
My own guess: the definition of “business days” is different for everyone. It depends on you, your company, your country… it would require to have settings in the account to define what your days are. And as you might have seen, Asana keeps the settings to a minimum (probably on purpose).
My 2 cents
What you say is true, for sure - the definition of work days and weekends does vary by country and culture. However, Asana has already taken this one on, so to speak, because there are “skip weekends” options several places within the product - where they are already deciding that a weekend is Sat-Sun, so by extension, a business day would be Mon-Fri.
100% true
With USA market large for Asana, and Mon-Fri being business days in USA, and as @Phil_Seeman said there is already a concept of Mon-Fri business days, this seems like a pretty uncontroversial request.
I might have turned it into a controversial topic for me, but we don’t know what’s Asana stance on this and this is probably just another request in their backlog
Due date automations are pretty useless for me if my tasks end up in weekends. I really hope they implement this feature soon enough.
Very critical for the functionality of automations for our organization. REALLY hope to see an update here for this feature in 2023.
This would be extremely helpful to our organization. We rely heavily on forms and rules to delegate tasks. Would LOVEEEE to have the option to skip weekends.
I’m completely overhauling my project template for creating a monthly newsletter and building rules to move tasks through a workflow. One of the actions on each rule would be to update the due date to X days from the date each rule is triggered. However, in testing it, the automatically assigned dates frequently fall on weekends, and then I have to manually adjust them, which kinda defeats the purpose of automation.
The Timeline is able to exclude weekends when auto-adjusting due dates, so it always seemed odd to me that excluding weekends in due dates didn’t carry over to other automations and views within the same project. It would be wonderful to make that an option for the Due Date rule action.
I’m not concerned with holidays – those vary so much from workplace to workplace and country to country. But excluding weekends seems like it would be desirable and useful for many users. Thanks!
